Andragogy

Design a poster for primary EFL teachers : "Do's and Don't's when applying ANDRAGOGY to the teaching of children"

When applying Andragogy to the teaching of children…

DO

DON’T

EXPERIENCE

…take into account the little experience a child can have when giving examples.

…provide examples about certain experiences they haven’t been through while explaining a topic.

BELIEFS

…show the children different possibilities to let them create their own ideas.

…impose your own thoughts or ideas to the children (Paulo Freire).

WHY

…let learners know, clearly, why something is important to learn

…start a lesson without letting the students know the reason why they are studying that topic.

HOW

…explain children the way they should face the subject

…take it for granted they know how to get through the information

MOTIVATION

…use strategies to catch children’s attention and make them feel interested in the topic to learn.

Take into account children’s feelings.

…focus only on the task you’re supposed to give because the learners may not pay attention if he/she is unmotivated.

Kudos to you, Mel, Romi and Pau! In my view, your chart clearly summarizes the main implications of using andragogy when teaching children... Now I'm eager to read whether you're willing to follow the model.
Way to go!

PS: Can you hear me clapping? ;-)
